George W. Beards [50's?]


George Wind-wood Beards died at his sister’s ranch near Raymond on February 22. He was 68.

Mr. Beards was born November 24, 1930, in Ely, Nevada.

He attended Brown Military Academy and Occidental College in Southern California. After graduation, he attended officers candidate school in the East and joined the Navy as a second lieutenant during the Korean War. He was assigned to the USS Hollister and served as chief gunnery officer during China and Korean service.

After his discharge from the Navy, he attended University of California at Los Angeles for a year and then transferred to UC Davis, where he received his doctor of philosophy degree in entomology. He practiced for more than 30 years in Califor-nia, Idaho and New Jersey. He resided in Pleasanton for more than 30 years.

He enjoyed stream and ocean fishing and 4-wheeling on the ranch.
